Scrambles around Tucson

This page contains links to pages that describe scrambling routes. I differentiate hiking and scrambling routes based on intention.

For example, you have to scramble or climb to get to the summit of Thimble Peak, Cathedral Rock, Elephant Head, Molino Thimble, Baboquivari, or Finger Rock Guard. But the scrambling or climbing is just something you have to do to complete the hike. It’s not usually the purpose of the trip.

On the other hand, sometimes you do a route specifically because you want to go scrambling. This page has such routes (they are also included in the hiking pages.)

Black Gate of Mordor

Soldier Canyon

Molino Canyon

Seven Cataracts to Windy Point

La Milagrosa and Agua Caliente Canyons

Lower Romero Canyon
